The Post-Snowpocalyptic World

The Weather Channel said Snowpocalypse. The President said Snowmageddon. Either way, it is winding down here, finally, leaving us with the 5th snowiest winter in our town's recorded history, and plenty of winter still left to weather. We didn't get nearly as much snow as those a few hours to the North, but it is still a lot more than we are used to.

Mr. Geek has had to tow several people up our hill or out of ditches (or in one case, out of our front yard). He's definitely in his element with his old Ford pickup and the tow strap that was probably one of the most apt Christmas presents I have ever gotten for him, way back before we were married.

The dogs also seem to be enjoying themselves. We've gone on several snow hikes, although it is tough going without snowshoes or skis. So far, I have only fallen down once, which is pretty good for me. Between slogging through knee-deep snow and shovelling the front walk and back deck several times, I'm not feeling quite as guilty about not being able to go running or make it out to the gym.

Z joined us for one hike, but I didn't bring the camera that time (which might be good because that was the time I fell down.) But mostly it has just been the two hooligans, who need to get some ya-ya's out.

We haven't been going terribly far - just the loop through the fields, but it is still a pretty good workout for all of us, and in the deep snow it has been taking us twice as long as usual.

Now I'm ready to sit by the fire with some sleepy-headed dogs and watch some basketball. I hope that everyone out there is staying warm and dry this weekend!

L and B are enjoying the snow, that's for sure!

We've got rain here, and some hail, thunder and lightnng and high winds. We need the rain desperately, so I am ok with it. We have gotten a years worht of rain within a couple ofweeks, that's not so good.

stay warm!

We're certainly staying dry. Unlike you we are on our way to setting a record for the lowest winter precipitation on record. And what little we have had has mostly been in the form of rain.

Go figure.

We supposedly have more of the white stuff on the way. I love it except for the shoveling out the driveway part. Watching dogs enjoy the snow is so much fun.

Well at least you go out. And the dogs love it. I'm pertified of all the ice under the snow.

What is it about dogs and snow? Ours loves the snow, burying her nose, smelling EVERY other animal footprint around!

What fun snowy dog pictures! Today is the day to dig the car out, but I certainly won't be driving anywhere. We are expecting another snow(storm?) on Tuesday night!!! What about you all down south?

We only got about 14". But it came down fast and furious. The wind was wicked and the dogs definately had a bit of an issue in the morning.

You kids look like they are enjoying winter.
